Abstract

This study examines the theoretical and methodological foundations of dumbra performance in teaching the Karakalpak bakhshi art to fifth-grade students. Bakhshi art is a unique performing tradition that transmits a people’s history, customs, and spiritual values from generation to generation, and the dumbra is its principal instrument. The article analyzes the structure of the dumbra, performance techniques, the master-apprentice (ustoz-shogird) tradition, and its integration with modern pedagogical technologies. It also outlines ways of organizing the lesson process with regard to students’ age characteristics, using game-based and interactive methods, and developing students’ musical literacy, aesthetic taste, and sense of national pride. The results of the study contribute to developing an effective methodological system for teaching dumbra performance in music lessons and help promote the folk instrumental art among the younger generation.
