Abstract

The expression of emotions is closely interconnected with both language and culture. This article explores the linguocultural features of verbalizing the emotion of joy through the concepts of “smile” and “laughter” in the English, Russian, and Uzbek languages. The aim of the study is to identify similarities and differences in the expression and interpretation of these emotional concepts across cultures. The findings indicate that although joy is a universal human emotion, its linguistic representation varies significantly depending on cultural norms, values, and communicative practices.
